Collapsable Colander: Love It or Hate It?

I love bright and colorful kitchen accessories, so imagine my delight when I stumbled upon these folding colanders ($22.89).

They come in hot pink or neon green and fold into a square-shaped colander or lie completely flat for easy storage.

Considering I have a small kitchen with limited cabinet space, I love this functional colander. How about you?

Doesn't that take up a RIDICULOUS amount of space in that drawer? You can't put anything on top of it or you will absolutely never use it. At least I won't. Out of sight, out of mind!

Now if you can stand it up on one side like a tray or actually fold it up then fine, it would take up less usable space! But I think making it lie flat is completely useless. How many other things in your kitchen could you unfold to stack on top of it? Maybe a cutting board, but I store those on their side.

I think this is great. You could hang it up or slide it in a cabinet, vertically. My colander takes up way too much space.

I have a collapsible colander that's still bowl shape and I love the fact that I can just stuff it into a cupboard and it won't take up all that room.

I have one similar... and I actually like it. As lazy as it sounds, i'm happy it fits in the dishwasher, unlike my other one! hahaha

I'm with bluepuppybites, too. I live in Manhattan and space is a commodity. I LOVE my collapsible colander.

I've heard bad things about that one though - like it doesn't drain properly.

this would be perfect for me b/c I have very little cabinet space and always find myself fighting with the one I currently have.

i'm a little undecided. i like them and think that they are cute - i'm just wondering if there's more hassle with them cause they are so flexible/bendy/foldable. it's cute though and def a space saver when you don't have room for a traditional one.
