Dear Poll: Do You Hang Out With His Friends Without Him?

I’ve always found that a relationship is most convenient if each person gets along well with the other’s friends. A more communal social life seems to create harmony and minimizes chances for conflict. But even when friends are shared, there’s often a distinct difference between his friends and hers. Of course it depends entirely on the type of friendships you’ve created, but do you ever spend time with his friends when he's not around?

Never 1 on 1, because that would be a tad weird, but it's happened in group situations. My husband works a lot of nights and weekends, so if his/my friends are getting together I'll go and hang out without him.

I like a lot of my boyfriends' friends, but I never hang out with them when he's not there. There's been times where just a friend and I have gotten somewhere early, and my boyfriend's not there yet, so we've hung out for a bit and it wasn't awkward or anything. I've also become close to a couple of his friends and so we'll talk online sometimes. I wouldn't purposely hang with his friends without him though. Like if we're both invited to a party, and he can't make it but I can, I won't go.

I like them okay, but none of them are really people I'd care to spend time with without an external reason (him).

Well, I met my boyfriend through mutual friends so I've known some of them longer than I've known him, although he's known them forever. So sometimes I'll hang out with one of the two guys I met him through.

I said Sure but only with certain ones. I hang out with his brothers and his cousin. Those are his best friends anyway!

no way, he'd probably kill me lmao.

If I'm out and I see his friends I stop to chat real quick and tell them what's going on with him, but I'd never sit around and hannnng with his friends without him around. We're like way out of high school. (He's old enough to have been through high school twice.) He doesn't hang with my friends and I don't hang with his. It's kind of a respect thing we have for each other's feelings.

Depends on the friend, whether he was available and if the friend and I had any sort of connection other than just him. Right now I'm not friends with any of my ex's friends, except on facebook. Except his brother and sister-in-law, who I still talk to occasionally because they were our family.

usually, when I go out without my man, his friends are in the club (like usual) and I end up hanging with them Smiling

I like it because they keep the weridos away so my girls and me can just enjoy ourselves. They even walk me out to my boyfriends car when he comes and picks us drunk-ass girls up Smiling

absolutely! they have become just as good of friends with me. my husband often works nights, so if his friends are going to a movie, they'll call and invite me. isn't that nice?

Not really no. Once my boyfriend got called into work last minute when he was supposed to pick up a friend from the airport so I went and picked him up, so it was really just like a half hour car ride. A little awkward but I think it was just because he didn't expect me.

    Changes.

He does hang out with my male best friend alone.
    However not reciprocated by me.

In my last long term relationship i hung out with all his friends male and female alone all the time. But at the end of the day the girl (our one mutual friend) who set us up..broke us up and he took her side. And they vanished to his side.. despite actually being closer to me. So.. you know what.. i prefer to have my own friends.

well unfortunately, we're not in a place that we have friends that we've known separately so it's not like i've had the chance to hang out with his friends if he wasn't around. i do think that i would hang out with his friend's wives if we were in the right place since i seem to get along with them, but the guys - well i've only met them all 1x for a couple hours, so i'm not in the same place to really say that i'd feel comfortable doing that.

My boyfriend's best friend is my ex, so yes.
    Sticking out tongue

We try and avoid it though. We annoy each other a lot. We all went climbing together last night though and that was fun.

I met my friend Chris before I met my boyfriend. They are now best friends, but Chris and I will still hang out just the two of us, and it isn't awkward or anything.
