5 Things to Be Grateful For When You're Single

Thanksgiving is the one holiday dedicated to being grateful for what you have, something we could all do a lot more of if you ask me. While it's sometimes easier to see the glass half empty than half full, I thought I'd put together a list of five things to be thankful for if you're single this Thanksgiving, if you're in a relationship, and if you're spending the holiday with your family. To see what I think the single ladies should be thankful for, read more.

  • You don’t have to worry about anyone’s holiday plans but your own.
  • You can spend your holiday volunteering if you want.
  • You don't have to share leftovers (especially that last piece of pumpkin pie!) with a significant other.
  • You don't have to worry about meeting anyone's family.
  • You can spend all your free time doing what you want to do!

Tune in tomorrow to see what all of you in relationships have to be thankful for!

    1. Not getting your heart broken by the one person you trusted with your heart, fears, dreams, etc.

    2. Being able to freely pursue ANY dream you want to.

    3. Can travel anywhere in the world at a moment's notice without worrying about leaving/telling that one other person.

    4. Can enjoy whatever hobbies you want without having to give up what you like or your time for someone else.

    5. Don't have to deal with negative in-laws.

The whole figuring out which holiday you spend where is one of the biggest pains in the ass I have dealt with. Like, how do you pick who you'd rather spend a holiday with when you love both sides, but everyone lives in a different state?

I'd be thankful not to pick sides -- but I AM thankful for my bf.

Seriously, it is not a tragedy to be single.

There's no extra person to buy Christmas presents for. And I always feel obligated to spend a lot!

Idk... I just find the holidays to be completely depressing and I kinda hate this whole season. I am always single for the holidays and never shared it with anyone. And even though I go to Disneyland every Thanksgiving... I still find myself in a blue mood. Even the Happiest Place on Earth can't cheer me up... I just see all the couple and feel completely sad, lonely, pathetic and unwanted. But hey that's just me.

Yeah, not having someone to share leftovers with is the reason I'm not bothering with Thanksgiving dinner. I'd love to do it but I can't deal with all that extra food!

Thanks for these Dear! Even a die hard single girl like myself can get a little blue when there is no one to kiss on New Years.

Hm. I dunno. I always kinda still could do these things I think. Perhaps that is why I am single now, maybe I am inconsiderate. Sad

Ha...I agree that I could probably get away with these even if I was attached, which doesn't make me feel any better about being single!

    - I still have to worry about making T-Day plans, and my family is a lot harder to fight with than some guy.

    - I wouldn't share my leftovers even if I WAS in a relationship! Everybody gets their OWN plate, dangit! =D

    - And I still have to spend my time fighting with family/meeting new in-laws and SOs/warding off crazy questions like the ones Dear posted last week/cooking/cleaning/being a slave. At least with a SO you have a reason to get away for a while. There's NONE of that when you're single!

The not having to buy anybody else Christmas presents thing is probably the only redeeming reason. Eye-wink

I will be looking forward to the relationship list, as these are things that, like cherika, I can still enjoy even though I am in a relationship...it's all about balance. =)

Argh Holidays are horrid. Spesh when all your friends are coupled up or with their families.

This year we're planning on having a second christmas when all of us girlies are having a roast and watching all the traditional christmas film together.

We broke up sunday. I couldn't be more depressed...and the only thing on that list that even cheers me a bit is the part about not having to deal with his family.

This is the first holiday season that I actually don't care about being single. I'm much too busy having fun in my own life to worry about something I don't have. Spending the holidays with someone special is great but only if it is the right person and that person will come along at the right time - and that time is obviously not now. Until then, I've got way too many plans with family and friends to think about it. I would add to your list of things for single women to be grateful for - I can wear anything I want to the Christmas party and flirt with all the waiters without worrying about what my boyfried would think.
