You and your boyfriend have always valued honesty above all else, so when he starts acting somewhat distant, you’re quick to inquire as to what’s going on. At first he shrugs and says it’s nothing, but after a few more weeks of the same behavior, you’re concerned.

Dear Sugar,
My boyfriend and I have been together for four years. After much thought and discussion, we decided to move in together. The first month things seemed to be going very well.

People I know are getting engaged left and right, but the word fiance seems to be used less and less. I don't really mind it myself, but it does kind of have a snobby ring to it — the word boyfriend just sounds so much more laid-back. On the other hand, some people use the word with a lot of pride and excitement when referring to their future husband.

Sex, and everything that leads up to it, is really the closest you can possibly be to another person. And since more than half of you — 65 percent to be exact — prefer to kiss with your eyes shut, I thought I'd ask you the same question in relation to making love. It's been said that many women marry men like their dads, but a new study reported by the BBC provides evidence that women actually do choose partners that have a resemblance to their fathers, and vice versa, specifically in relation to facial features and structure.
The phenomenon of determining an adult mate based on learned traits in childhood is referred to as sexual imprinting and has long been studied. But what makes this particular article interesting is that it reveals that this occurrence is based on a personal bond with a parent rather than a genetic connection to them.

If you've ever blamed a cheating spouse's nether regions for his infidelities, new research has proven that his brain is actually what's to blame. Swedish scientists have found that men who carry a specific gene variant called allele — which is present in two of every five men — are more likely to experience marital problems and divorce than those who lack this particular variant of a gene. This study also states the following: Men with two copies of the allele had twice the risk of experiencing marital dysfunction, with a threat of divorce during the last year, compared to men carrying one or no copies.

Even if you’re not married, a relationship requires certain financial negotiations: Who pays for what? And when. Often the lines are easily drawn, but sometimes things can get complicated, especially if your boyfriend likes to spend more money than you. It can be difficult to maintain a budget if your partner doesn’t, not to mention that it can often be stressful on a relationship.
