Babysugar Diaries: Preparing for a Long Flight Another weekend, another wedding. Last night, my husband and I flew from San Francisco to Martha's Vineyard for another nuptial filled weekend. Excited as I am for the celebrations, I am never thrilled for the brutal red-eye.

Do You and Your Spouse Travel Separately on Purpose? Friends of mine recently planned their first trip away from their one-year-old baby. They told me how stressful it was to secure family members to care for their daughter, book the hotel and their individual flights. When I asked why the flight arrangements were so difficult, they explained that they had to find flights that departed and arrived at similar times, but on separate carriers.

Junior Jetset: Pack a Change of Clothes On a recent flight across the country with her 10-month-old daughter, a fellow traveler forgot to pack an extra pair of clothes for herself or her tot. Two hours into the flight, her wee one was literally oozing pea colored poo from her britches, which incidentally leaked onto the mother's white designer jeans. Oops!

Do You Board Early With Baby? We all know that jetsetting with junior can be overwhelming. It's one thing if you're in danger of being deplaned, but it's another to be itching to board the plane. For quite some time, airlines have allowed families the luxury of getting set up for flight a few minutes before other passengers.

Family Ties: One Reason Why I Am the Luckiest Mom Alive For some insane reason, my husband and I decided to drag our daughter with us to a wedding. Still under two, she sat as a lap–child for the long journey from San Francisco to small-town New Hampshire. I brought DVDs, food, diapers, books, and small toys to entertain her.

Junior Jetset: Let the Library Help You Out Hollywood Video has been my friend and foe for my last two family vacations. In an effort to make my travels temper tantrum free, I rented Elmo, Thomas the Train, Tom & Jerry, and Clifford the Dog DVDs. Unfortunately, my trip dates make it impossible to return them on time.

Junior JetSet: Keeping Peace in the Air Nobody booking a cross-country flight with a toddler thinks they are in for an easy trip. As I told you last week, my last trip was filled with airline delays and track and field moves to get me to my gate on time. While you can't control traffic delays and TSA bottlenecks, you can make the trip easier for your tot and your fellow travelers by filling your carry-on with projects and toys that make time pass a little faster.

The Amazing Race: Traveling With Child In order to attend a wedding in Florida last weekend, I left my daughter with my family back in Texas. An excellent plan when it was hatched, our strategy was to fly through the Houston airport, where we had an hour layover, and grab our daughter for the second leg of the trip back to San Francisco. I was prepared with a DVD player, snacks, water and books for the long flight, but I did not anticipate delays.

Junior Jetset: Tips for Flying Taking a trip with your wee one can cause a lot of angst for parents. Friends of mine recently took a transcontinental flight that required one stop and a two–hour delay with their two–year–old. Thankfully, they were bumped up to first class where each family member had their own seat.
