It's no secret that I'm a big fan of
Dermalogica, and their new
MediBac range is really fantastic to help clear up bouts of
adult acne.
I regularly use the
Overnight Clearing gel, (£34), on break-outs, or when I think my skin is getting greasy and clogged up. The clear gel is an overnight treatment, that you apply on freshly washed skin. I moisturise first, and then dot it onto blemishes, but you can also apply a thin layer all over the skin (and skip the moisturiser if you have very greasy skin).

So by night you're a wild child, Kate Moss-alike, scampering from club to party, looking smoky eyed and sizzling.
And by day? Well, if you're starting to resemble Frankenstein's sister, after too many late nights and not enough kip – here's the second part of my
guide to looking beautiful, the morning-after the night-before.

Confession time: Despite my Beauty Editor disguise, somewhere deep down, there is still a sun worshipper just waiting to get out. I know, I know... it's terrible for the skin and I lecture everyone else about sitting in the shade and wearing a sun hat, but the girl just can't help it!

Splitting nails looks messy and is super annoying when you're trying to grow your talons. Look at your diet, if you're not eating enough protein that could be part of the problem. Secondly, make sure you're
buffing your nails correctly, and not being overly harsh.

While it might be fun to re-work
the trends we rocked as teenagers, teaming them with acne-ridden skin should surely be a thing of the past. But
adult acne is one of the most hotly debated topics in the beauty industry right now –
clinical studies indicate that between 40-55% of adults age 20-40 are diagnosed with a low grade, persistent acne and oily skin.
As someone who was enviably spot-free in her teenage years, only to break out when I hit 25, I can sympathise.

Despite being nagged to, most of us still don't wear sunscreen on a daily basis in the city. Just because you're not actually sunbathing doesn't mean that you aren't at risk from harmful UVA and UVB rays. As a former sunshine addict, I have to remind myself that the sun is the primary cause of wrinkles and other signs of ageing, such as
dark under-eye circles and a general lack of radiance.

Over the weekend, I attended the 2008 International Makeup Artist Trade Show, an event that showcases products, educators, and speakers who are involved in the makeup and skin-care world for television and film. It's also a place where makeup artists can purchase products and tools at a discount.
I didn't know what to expect from the show, but seeing a naked man wearing nothing but a flesh-colored thong and body paint was certainly a shock.

An excellent facialist once told me that she uses only Dermalogica products, and so I decided to try out a few samples. Like any other line, Dermalogica is hit or miss. The Special Cleansing Gel wasn't all that special, for instance—at least, it didn't do anything better than
Cetaphil cleanser does.

Welcome back to
Back To Basics, the Cliff Notes version of my all-time favorite products. Since we've been talking so much about
self tanner and
body bronzer this week on
beach week, I thought I'd give you a friendly reminder that the first step before applying any of these products is
exfoliating. Your skin becomes shinier once you remove all of those unnecessary dull and dead cells, and it will feel softer and smoother too.
