Some pets can't get enough of leaf piles, but my scaredy pup doesn't like stepping on any surface that's not solid and definitely won't wade through masses of anything. However he will chase and chew anything that falls from trees including twigs and leaves – how about your furry friends?

My participation in this year's Park(ing) Day has really got me thinking about the lack of green spaces in urban areas. Growing up in the country, it never really occurred to me that some people just don't have access to the green grass I was so tangibly familiar with. While there are a handful of wonderful parks in San Francisco to visit, including the vast Golden Gate Park, they simply can't compete with opening your back door to a canopy of trees and plants.

I just spent two hours in the veterinarian's office getting my dog treated for raccoon bites. North would definitely chase what I throw (or stomp) for him, but it often turns into tug o' war/keep-away to get it back to re-toss. How about your pets? Do they freely fetch, sometimes test it out, or simply wait for you to bring it back like a civilized person?

I love taking North along for a coffee or snack at a sidewalk café. It's the perfect way for me to get some yums, and for my pooch to enjoy the fresh air.A couple things to keep in mind when heading out:
